When thinking about the Covid 19 virus, and looking out of my window, images of fungi spores and dandelion seeds come to mind, filling the air and being carried by the wind.
The mushroom has associations with fairytales, religious rites and transformative processes, I see the virus and the chaos it has caused along these same lines. We are taken out of the realm of our ordinary day to day lives and thrust into a strange and unfamiliar place where our usual points of reference no longer apply. Just like some descriptions of God, the virus is invisible to the eye, It could be filling the air around us and we would never know, directing the lives we lead with omnipotent power.
