The difference and distinction between craft and art has always interested Cecilia. Having worked in both fields, she knows practitioners of each discipline to be dedicated, creative, expert, and passionate. Yet, there is a clear division between the two, despite having so much in common.
These works utilise the aesthetic, and some processes, of quilting. However, without the layering of fabrics and the binding quilting stitches running through them, these textiles are not quilts. These works play on our perception of art or craft and hopefully challenge the way we categorise or value made objects.
