Ancestor is about the witnessing of memory and deep time, the allowing of something to play out in the inner world without being swept away by it. This process allows for spaciousness to occur, informed choice to happen and for the nourishing waters of life to be allowed to flow and bring about new ways of seeing ourselves and the world around us.
"These works are based on collages that I created from old sketchbooks, drawings and other bits and pieces during lockdown. The initial pieces were not really intended to tell a story, but each piece made itself known during the process of translating the works into embroideries. I enjoyed the process of collaging, deconstructing and creating something new, it seemed well suited to the time period and its events."
