Ghost Star is one of three pieces that uses the idea of the mandala being a representation of both the microcosm and the macrocosm.
Each of these pieces includes the name of a black hole (this one is Sagittarius A* or Sgr*) and has a central focal point that relates to this This represents the macro world of outer space, the ever expanding universe. The presence of the rabbit mind motif represents the inner micro world of the mind, an observing function and the ability to show curiosity and dig deeper. At the centre of this is a still point, the eye of the storm, an ordering presence that knows exactly how to work with and bring out the beauty of the chaos.
The title comes from a theoretical phenomenon known as a ‘ghost star’. To my tiny understanding, a Ghost star or boson star is similar to a blackhole but made up of boson particles. Boson particles are able to occupy the exact same space as each other, not next to, but the exact same space and yet still remain distinct. I found this to be a great analogy for us human beings, we are one thing and yet many. Paradox, paradox, paradox!
