Lily Pond
J. M. Barrie (author of Peter Pan) once owned Eilean Shona. When I was given the maps of the island by the caretaker, I made the connection between one of his controversial characters Tiger Lily and a place marked as “Lily Pond”. Fittingly, the place does have an otherworldly atmosphere, the pond itself being quite obviously manmade against the backdrop of the rugged landscape of the west of Scotland. It would be a fitting location for either Barrie’s characters or the kelpies and selkies of Scottish folklore.
