Whitney Museum, Manhattan. Painted from drawings made during a Wayne Thiebaud retrospective at the Whitney Museum when it was still on Madison Avenue. The painting plays off a window in a building, located at the corner of Madison Avenue and 75th Street, that was designed by Hungarian-born, Bauhaus-trained architect Marcel Breuer (1902–1981), against the repeat wedge patterns made by the slices of cake.
