The Kudu is a type of antelope, a shy animal, rarely seen in open ground. It hides in thickets, perfectly camouflaged with its disruptive colouration which mimics the light falling on the dappled environment. No wonder that Hamish found them tricky to spot!
Their impressive spiral horns can grow up to 6 foot in length and are highly prized in Africa, used for medicinal purposes, musical instruments and containers.
Hamish’s bronze Kudu sculpture captures the female kudu, warily keeping a look out for predators, her beautifully sculptural horns proudly aloft. Available in a limited edition of 12, this is an unusual and sensitive rendering of one of Africa’s rare sights.
