"The title for this piece came from a dream I had where I was being taught by an old man to cook potatoes (fruits dug out of the dark dirt of the earth) in butter ( a rich golden substance that has been through a process and like water can change from solid to liquid). The full meaning of the dream still evades me, (hence the red text) but whilst making this piece I was struck by the themes of the combining of the sacred and the profane, the high and the low to make something delicious and nourishing. Soul food."
