"I have a great fondness for dogs. Although incredibly domesticated compared to their wolf ancestors, most dogs still retain a spark of the wild; they will run off and not come back when called, jump in rivers and roll in the dirt when told not to and they look incredibly happy when doing so. They can also be fiercely savage and protective when the need arrives.
I think we all have an inner dog, an instinctual self. A self that does not want to be continually boxed in by all the frameworks, categories ‘isms’ and ‘ists’ that we place on life in order to tame and bring a sense of control. (which of course is very useful to navigate the process of living in this world) I think our lives become a bit richer when we allow a little of that wild energy into our daily lives."
